Pathways: Programs & Classes

“A Taste of Judaism: Are You Curious?” A program held across North America, that is designed to engage “beginners” - Jewish or not - in learning more about Judaism. We welcome all who are curious about Jewish traditions: unaffiliated Jews, interfaith couples, and those of other religious backgrounds. The FREE, three-session classes are held in synagogues throughout greater Atlanta, and are taught by the host Rabbis. Explore Jewish spirituality, values and community. “Alumni” programs are offered periodically for those who complete the course.

“The Mothers Circle” An umbrella of free educational programs and resources for women of other religious backgrounds raising Jewish children within the context of intermarriage, sponsored in conjunction with Pathways' partner, the Jewish Outreach Institute. The Mothers Circle began as a pilot program in Atlanta, and is now offered around the country. Moms may participate in a national listserve; enroll in an eight-month educational course offering an introduction to Jewish practices and ethics intended specifically for non-Jewish women raising Jewish children; and/or enjoy fun Family Events. www.themotherscircle.org

“The Grandparents Circle” An education and support program for Jewish grandparents whose adult children have intermarried. These grandparents often feel unsure of how they can cultivate the Jewish identities of their grandchildren, especially when it is not always clear as to whether or not those children are being raised as Jews. The 5 session course offers grandparents skills and techniques to nurture, and in some cases help establish, their interfaith grandchildren's Jewish identities. Future plans include an interactive listserve and events for grandparents and their grandchildren. www.GrandparentsCircle.org

"Judaism and Christianity: Shared Heritage, Divergent Paths" A 3-session class geared towards interfaith couples, their family members, those new to Judaism and all others who find this topic relevant to their lives. Class discussions will focus on Judaism and Christianity's common historical roots and divergent religious traditions. Open to all; individuals or couples may enroll. Offered each semester at locations throughout greater Atlanta.
