Sophie Hirsh Srochi Jewish Discovery Museum

Discover the Difference

At the Sophie Hirsh Srochi Jewish Discovery Museum, you'll discover a very special place where playing and learning go hand-in-hand.

Hands-On. Interactive. Imaginative.

The Sophie Hirsh Srochi Jewish Discovery Museum is unlike any other place. Part museum, part theatre, the Museum is a fun and creative interactive Jewish learning experience which will delight your child!

Designed for children under the age of 12, the museum is a hands-on, interactive venue where Jewish values, traditions, holidays, and heritage are taught through role-playing and experimentation.

Our Exhibits

Our Museum's exhibits change twice a year to reflect different aspects of Judaism. No matter the theme, exhibits are designed for children to flex their imaginations, interact with their peers, and educate.

What are some things that your child will experience at the museum?

  • Our current exhibit, "Your Jewish Town" whisks children away to the life and times of their grandparents or great-grandparents.
  • Children are invited to become a tailor, shop at the kosher grocer, or browse at the general store.
  • After a busy day of shopping, children can have a "nosh" in the delicatessen.
  • The child-sized synagogue welcomes exploration and participation in the Jewish customs and traditions found in the synagogue.
  • Each interactive display has detailed explanations of its relationship to Jewish thought, holidays or customs.

Discover Interactive Family Fun

We encourage you and your family to explore the Discovery Museum together, which allows for the most enriching and educational experience. The museum is often filled with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and community friends, who also enjoy learning more about Judaism in a festive & safe environment.

Discover Family-Friendly Programs and Classes

Through out the year, you and your family will enjoy a wide variety of interactive programming in the museum. From decorating denim and arts & crafts to cooking and holiday preparation classes, there's always something fun going on.

Discover Exciting Field Trips to the Museum

Our knowledgeable and highly-trained museum director plans thought-provoking and topical field trips for groups of up to 30 children. Built into each entertaining visit is a lesson designed to further enhance the museum’s current exhibit.

Field trips are $7 and up per student and require one adult for every five children. Open to members and non-members. To schedule a trip to the museum or to discuss available lesson plans, please contact Cyndi Sterne.
