In keeping with our mission to serve and enhance the lives of every member of our community, the MJCCA is your very special place for your family member with special needs.

The Blonder Family Department for Developmental Disabilities
Established in 2002 through a generous endowment by Jerry (OBM) and Lois Blonder, The Blonder Family Department for Developmental Disabilities is dedicated to ensuring the financial security and welfare of children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Nationally recognized as both a pioneer and a leader in its field, The Blonder Family Department for Developmental Disabilities provides year-round, quality-driven social, recreational, and educational special needs programs that are open to our entire community. Led by a team of dedicated, highly trained professionals and devoted volunteers, your family member with special needs will learn team building, self-advocacy, and coordination skills through our loving, hands-on approach. In addition, he or she will build self-esteem and confidence while making new and lasting friendships.
"I like The Blonder Department programs because I like being with my friends and to share the activities with everyone. I also like the summer trips and seeing different states. And I do love theatre! I love all the experiences of being on stage that Jerry’s Habima Theatre offers to me.”
--Katie Rouille
Created exclusively for individuals with developmental disabilities, the Debra "Debbie" Sonenshine SOAR Program provides sports instruction and offers age-appropriate skill-building and group play opportunities. This fun and active program is guided by experienced volunteer coaches who emphasize team play, sportsmanship, and coordination skills.
The Blonder Family Department offers exciting travel opportunities for your adult family member with developmental disabilities. Trips to regional, national, and even international destinations are offered twice a year, usually during the fall and summer months.
The MJCCA preschools offer a very special partnership with the Adaptive Learning Center (ALC) at our MJCCA preschool campuses in Dunwoody and East Cobb. ALC’s on-site facilitators, therapists, and social workers are available to assist children who learn differently as well as to help our staff identify children with special needs as early as possible.
