MJCCA Provides Community Residents Ways to Achieve Wellness

The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is the place to seek wellness, and strengthen your physical, intellectual, social, and emotional well-being.

  • Lymphedema Workshop

When: Tuesday, October 17, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Where: MJCCA, Zaban Park (5342 Tilly Mill Rd., Dunwoody)
Who: Open to the community
Cost Free
Details: Shelley DiCecco from The Sports Rehabilitation Center will discuss signs, symptoms, treatment options, and how to reduce the risk of developing Lymphedema (numbness, tingling, swelling in extremities). Other issues to be covered include: prolonged swelling with diabetes or after orthopedic surgery. RSVP at atlantajcc.org/wellness.

  • BRCA Testing

When: Sunday, October 22, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Wednesday, October 25, from 6:45 pm – 8:45 pm
Who: Open to the community
Cost: Free
Details: Come to the MJCCA for an insightful and informational session about the BRCA1 and BRCA2 human genes, that play an important role in cell stability. BRCA1 and BRCA2 are human genes that produce tumor suppressor proteins. When either of these genes is mutated, or altered, DNA damage may not be repaired properly. As a result, cells are more likely to develop additional genetic alterations that can lead to cancer. Get tested, and get questions answered. RSVP at atlantajcc.org/wellness.

  • LifeSouth Blood Mobile Truck

When: Thursday, October 26, from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Where: MJCCA, Zaban Park (5342 Tilly Mill Rd., Dunwoody)
Who: Open to the community
Cost: Free
Details: LifeSouth, a community blood center, and its Blood Mobile Truck, will be at the MJCCA for anyone who wants to donate blood, to help serve the needs for local patient transfusions. RSVP at atlantajcc.org/wellness.

  • BiketoberFest Challenge

When: October 1-31
Sundays–Fridays 5:30 am–10:00 pm; Saturdays 8:00 am–6:00 pm
Where: MJCCA, Zaban Park (5342 Tilly Mill Rd., Dunwoody)
Who: Open to the community
Cost: Free
Details: Starting Oct. 1, the MJCCA invites the community to celebrate all month long in the Cycle Studio. Participate in at least 8 exciting, heart-pumping indoor cycle classes for the chance to take home a Precor Indoor bike! Track your progress on the leaderboard and at the end of the month, participants with the highest points will win gifts! RSVP at atlantajcc.org/biketoberfest.
