In Conversation with Jared Powers, MJCCA CEO
Native Atlantan Harry Maziar is many things to many people. To those in the business community, he is the consummate sales executive: the former president of Zep Manufacturing Company, the retired chairman of the chemical division of National Service Industries, and the first Executive-in-Residence at Kennesaw State University. At the MJCCA, he’s a revered past president, a former Governance Board co-chair, a board Trustee, and just the nicest darn guy you’ll ever meet! But to everyone who knows him, Harry is one thing above all else -- a gifted storyteller. In his first book, Story Selling, Harry relates 50 unforgettable stories that teach (not preach!) readers important lessons about sales and life. Home Depot founder, philanthropist, and close friend Bernie Marcus said it best when he described Story Selling as the “print version of Harry Maziar”: smart, witty, thought-provoking, and, just like the author himself, memorable.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Harry Maziar’s storied career has combined family, business and community. For 27 years, he served as president of Zep Manufacturing Company, a division of National Service Industries. During his tenure, Zep became an international leader in the specialty chemical industry. As a sales representative, Harry was so successful he was named the company’s first director of sales. He retired as chairman of the Chemical Division of National Service and often jokes that he has failed retirement as he has busied himself with both for-profit and non-profit endeavors. In addition to his many responsibilities at the MJCCA, he has served on the board of the William Breman Jewish Home; is a trustee and member of Ahavath Achim Synagogue; was the former past president of Jewish Family & Career Services; the past chair of Southeast Regional Council, Birthright; and continues to serve as the first Executive-in-Residence of the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University. Harry and his wife, Sherry, have been married for 63 years and have three children and eight grandchildren.
