Our Tennis ProsJuan Pablo Arico • Head Tennis CoachSince 2003, Juan has been the Marcus JCC’s Head Tennis Pro, specializing in Little Tennis, Junior Academy, Tennis Camps, and coaching ALTA and USTA teams. A former professional tennis player himself, Juan is originally from Argentina, where he was also formerly ranked as a Junior Tennis Player until 1982. He holds a degree of Tennis Instructor from Buenos Aires University. Juan specializes in junior tennis, with experience running junior programs in tennis and country clubs, and coaching women’s teams. Coach Juan has attended numerous tennis workshops in South America and the U.S., held by the AAT, ITF, USPTA. Juan is certified by the ITF, AAT and USPTA. Scott Gates • Assistant Head Tennis CoachScott Gates’s love of the game of tennis began at a very early age. As a teenager, he played his junior career in Georgia with a top 25 ranking in the state and top 70 in the South – all while competing for Centennial High School. His tennis career flourished in college where he played on the Gordon College men’s tennis team in Barnesville, GA for two years, followed by a stint on the Newberry College team in Newberry, SC. where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management. Scott played #1 doubles throughout college while achieving a winning record every season in both doubles and singles. Prior to joining the MJCCA, Scott was the head tennis professional at the PGA Tour Superstore in Roswell for four and a half years. Jane Jones • CoachJane is a USPTR Certified Professional and a member of the Georgia Professional Tennis Association. Jane is originally from New York City, and teaches at the Marcus JCC and in the Atlanta area. Jodi Kenter • CoachA favorite coach of our youth members, Jodi has been with the MJCCA for over eight years, and holds a BA in Physical Education and a Masters in Exercise Physiology. She has taught physical education in New Jersey public schools and currently teaches Phys. Ed. in various Atlanta preschools. Jodi coaches numerous Junior Alta and USTA teams. Jodi is proud to say that she herself continues to play ALTA and USTA, and in 2006, was city and state champs! |
