Job Summary:

Kid Zone is an hourly drop off childcare program located at the MJCCA. The Lead Teacher of Kid Zone will be responsible for writing creative Lesson Plans for toddler group, implementing the daily lesson plans and activities, and hands-on child care for children ranging 1 years old to 5 years old. This position will also assist with Preschool Vacation Camps (PVC) throughout the year.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage groups of multi-age children
  • Communicate with parents change of policies and procedures, change in staff, behavioral issues
  • Plan and implement daily activities and Lesson Plans
  • Assist with leading the toddler classrooms during Preschool Vacation Camp 
  • Maintain internal paperwork
  • Encourage staff growth through hands on experience and trainings
  • Provide a safe and healthy working environment
  • Follows Bright From the Start guidelines


Preferred Education/Experience

  • Education background, CDA or equivalent experience required
  • 2 years experience with Early Childhood Services or experience working with families and children five and under
  • Thorough understanding of child development
  • Work as a team player with co-workers and other departments 
  • Work collaboratively with the Weinstein Preschool and other JCC departments
  • Professional behavior & positive attitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage groups of children
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills a must
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Reliable transportation a must
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk 80% of the day
  • Visual acuity is necessary for reading instructions and specifications
  • Talking and hearing is essential for communications
  • Able to lift and transport infants/toddlers to 30 lbs to comfort, feed and change
  • Able to lift and transport a child weighing up to 50 lbs to safety in the event of an emergency/injury
  • Able to change children’s diapers following proper health and safety precautions
  • Able to bend and stoop to interact with children at their eye level
  • Bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, wrist/arm flexion is preformed 30-70% of the workday
