The Staff Accountant assists the Controller in ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger by conducting monthly and periodic analyses and reconciliations. This position is also a backup resource for the Accounts receivable position. This position requires limited oversight and a high degree of personal initiative.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and input journal entries
  • Prepare and input cash receipts
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations
  • Analyze general ledger accounts, preparing adjusting journal entries as required
  • Assist in preparation for external audit
  • Assist Director of Financial Reporting with leasehold and fixed asset accounting responsibilities
  • Assist in Budget and Forecast preparations
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Provide back up for Accounts Receivable function, to include:
  • Daily bank deposits
  • Billing inquiries
  • Member account receipts
  • Member account reconciliations
  • Assist in completing special projects as needed
  • Perform accounting, analytical, and administrative tasks
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting
  • 2 years of accounting experience preferred
  • CPA candidate preferred
  • Excellent internet research skills
  • Proficient and experienced in MS Office suite, accounting and enterprise software
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including journal entries, accruals, balance sheets, reconciliations and accounting projects
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written, oral or schedule form
  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing high volume work load
