POSITION TITLE:
Transitions Program Facilitator
FSLA: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT(s): Blonder Family Department for Special Needs
HOURS: Part Time

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:

  • Assist Program Coordinator with implementation of activities for young adults (ages 20-25) with autism spectrum disorder and related diagnoses
  • Support participants in various program components including volunteer projects, community trips, leisure activities, fitness, and cooking
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator in activity development
  • Ensure participant safety in a variety of settings
  • Encourage appropriate levels of independence
  • Demonstrate and reinforce appropriate social behaviors
  • Take driver training for mini-bus

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or education in Special Education, Counseling, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or related field
  • Experience with individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Flexibility
  • Professionalism in working with other staff and participant families
  • Demonstrate patience, respect, and compassion for adults with developmental disabilities


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to carry 10 pounds
  • Able to lift 10 pounds
  • Able to remain standing during events for several hours
