The Sunshine School now offers Kindergarten

The Sunshine School’s Kindergarten program is taught by an experienced teacher using the Georgia Early Learning Kindergarten Standards and will prepare your child for First Grade upon completion.

Our program centers around building a strong classroom community based on mutual respect with an emphasis on fostering social-emotional growth. Our curriculum is focused on literacy, math, and science explorations, covering key concepts through a variety of lenses. Students will strengthen their relationships with the alphabet and phonics rules, while building a solid foundation of reading skills. They will also expand their understanding of the purpose of writing and varying forms of communication. Math will focus on developing strong numeracy skills and problem-solving from multiple perspectives. The Kindergarten community of learners will use experiences in the real world to examine and interpret their academic and social-emotional understanding. Our program also features:

  • Small class sizes so children can actively research, inquire and think critically about the world around them
  • Fixed academic standards that will be met while also having the flexibility to have an inquiry-based curriculum that is guided by research questions
  • The fostering of curious, creative, and critical thinkers
  • Specialized programs such as: Wilson Fundations Program for reading and literacy skills, Fountas and Pinell’s Guided Reading Program, The Write Steps Writing Program, Handwriting Without Tears, Everyday Math, the Social Thinking Program
  • Judaic traditions and core values weaved into the fabric of each week, while also understanding the value of diversity and learning about the varied cultures, ethnicities and religions of classmates and school community members
  • Attention paid to unique developmental and individual needs

Our Kindergarten Program is offered Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
