Summer 2018 MJCCA Day Camps Provide Exciting Options And Convenience For Campers Living Intown

For parents living Intown who are looking for a dynamic summer day camp for rising K – 8th graders, the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is excited to bring summer day camp magic Intown! MJCCA Day Camps at Emory University begins Monday, June 4, and ends on Friday, July 27, 2018. Online registration for returning families is open, and for first-time families, registration begins on Sunday, January 14 at 10:00 am. Performing Arts Camps will be located at Emory University, at the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Center for Performing Arts (1700 N Decatur Road, Atlanta). MJCCA’s Specialty Camps, also at Emory University, will be located at the Rich Building (1602 Fishburne Drive, Atlanta).

MJCCA Day Camps also provides free bus transportation from three convenient Intown locations (Shearith Israel; Briarcliff Methodist, and The Temple in Midtown) and throughout metro Atlanta, to the MJCCA’s Zaban Park campus located at 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody.

MJCCA Day Camps location at Emory University offers Specialty and Performing Arts Camps to suit every interest imaginable. Campers who attend five or more weeks of camp (per camper) are eligible to receive a $25/week discount.

NEW INTOWN PERFORMING ARTS AND SPECIALTY CAMPS

  • Art Craze, for rising Kindergarteners – 5th Graders, is an exploration of a myriad of art styles, including mosaics, painting, illustration, printing, rubbings, sand-based, mixed mediums, and more. (Specialty Camp)
  • Tinker Workshop, for rising Kindergarteners – 2nd Graders, is perfect for budding inventors. Campers will use STEM-based principles to construct and create marble mazes, straw rollercoasters, and more, from a variety of spare parts. Creativity reigns! (Specialty Camp)
  • Theater Slam, for rising 3rd – 8th Graders, is the place to be for stage performers who want to learn all the ins and outs of various theater techniques, including improv; basics of stage combat; acting skills, and stage presence. (Performing Arts Camp)
  • Upcycling Art, for rising 3rd – 5th Graders, is an amazing and fun exploration of the world of upcycling, reusing items such as old clothes, jewelry, recyclables and much more, to create a product of higher quality or different usage than the original. (Specialty Camp)

  • Science Discovery; Disney Princess Camp; Superhero Camp; Pop Star Dance; LEGOland; Krav Kids; Welcome to Hogwarts; Fencing; and Creative Chefs Camp.


Lynne & Howard Halpern Drama Camps for rising K– 8th Graders

  • Campers will experience every element of the theater in this two-week theatrical extravaganza, including acting, movement, music and choreography, while rehearsing for their spectacular production of The Jungle Book Kids, and High School Musical JR, both of which will be performed at the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

MJCCA Day Camps offers more than 100 amazing day and overnight camp options at three locations in metro Atlanta: Intown, Dunwoody, and East Cobb.

Overnight camps, like the Huntsville Space Camp and Youth Sports Academy Powered by the Atlanta Hawks (both for rising 4th – 8th graders), are very popular. For rising 3rd – 5th graders, the MJCCA offers a new, week-long overnight camp, Roadtrippin’ Savannah, which includes a dolphin tour, a visit to Tybee Island, a ghost tour, and more! Camp Barney Medintz Experience, for rising 2nd – 5th Graders, provides a great taste of what Camp Barney, one of the South’s premiere overnight camps, is all about. The three-night camp is the perfect opportunity for your child to experience the magic of overnight camp in just a few days.

Each week, campers and counselors at all locations will learn about and incorporate five character-building values: community, respect, friendship, acceptance, and learning.
