Join Dr. Eli Sperling in exploring the origins and early development of native-born Hebrew and Israeli culture. From the 1880s to current times, staggered waves of culturally, geographically, religiously and linguistically diverse Jewish immigrants and historic events throughout the past have radically changed the culture of Israel. In this first session, Dr. Sperling will discuss the culture from the early 19th century Zionists through the formation of the State, to the Six-Day War. Part 2, from 1967 to the present will be in our Spring Semester.
