Israeli Politics: History, Ideologies, & Compromises

Wednesdays, 8-21-2019 (15 sessions)
10:45 AM to 11:45 AM
MJCCA Zaban Park •

Israeli politics with its numerous and regularly morphing political parties, its parliamentary system, its lack of a written constitution, and multiple social fault-lines, often befuddles and confounds Americans. This course seeks to make the current political reality in Israel less confusing by examining the makeup of the current government and Knesset, as well as the parties' platforms. It will also discuss the beginnings of Zionism plus the emerging issues affecting the political landscape, including the relationship with Jews in the diaspora.
