A Scrap Left on the Genizah Floor: Celebrate a brand new curriculum written by Lisa F. Brill Institute for Jewish Learning instructor Dr. Shelley Buxbaum! The exciting course is now part of the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, titled Exploring a Forgotten World: A Social History of Medieval Jewry as Revealed in the Cairo Genizah! Shelly will share fascinating research of Genizah documents as well as a newly discovered Genizah fragment, and introduce some impressive new insights into Jewish life in medieval Fustat, Egypt.

 

The course was written in memory of Susan Arnovitz Saltz, and made possible by her daughters Dara Grant, Shauna Grosswald, and Jessica Sacks.
