Fascinating Women in Modern Jewish History

view options Amazing, inventive, courageous women: You may have heard of some, but others have been forgotten or have never received the recognition they deserve. This class will cover women scientists such as Mileva Maric Einstein, one of the first female physicists in the world, who collaborated with Einstein in his discoveries, but is only a footnote in history. We will also look at Annie Cohen Kopchovsky, an Orthodox Jewish woman who was the first woman to ride a bicycle around the world in 1895. the Oversteegen sisters, teenage spies in the Netherlands during World War II, who lured Nazi soldiers to the woods, promising romance, but murdering them instead. 
Join us for a discussion of Jewish women in art, science, literature, and sports, as well as non-Jewish female spies who whose bravery saved thousands of Jews from certain death. These fascinating women will be split between two 3-week sessions— register for one or both sessions!
