view options Music and poetry are a reflection of the tortured and traumatized soul of the people of Israel. These give us a unique window into Israelis, a window that is not often reported in the press.Rabbi Fred Guttman comes to the MJCCA with a rich and varied career. Rabbi Guttman served as the rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Greensboro, North Carolina from 1995 to 2021, prior to which, from 1979 to 1991, he lived in Israel. After serving in the IDF, Rabbi Guttman was the rabbi and principal of Alexander Muss High School in Israel.
During his tenure as Rabbi in North Carolina, Rabbi Guttman organized multiple Interfaith Clergy Trips to Israel and served as a regional director of the International March of the Living to Poland and Israel, recruiting and accompanying Greensboro teenagers on seventeen occasions. In 2005, Rabbi Guttman organized the National Jewish commemoration of the Bloody Sunday, March in Selma Alabama on the 50th Anniversary of the March.
In his free time, Rabbi Guttman indulges his love of music and plays both the guitar and keyboard.
