Senior Day at the MJCCA

Join us for SENIOR DAY at the MJCCA! Feed your mind, body, and soul with a variety of activities and connect with other older adults! 
Free transportation with advance registration included.


We are excited to welcome you back for an in-person Senior Day! Choose activities for sessions 1 and 2 that include art, fitness, and a Rabbi-led High Holy Day discussion. 
Session 3 is an Author Talk for all participants and a drawing for free books by our Keynote speaker! We'll close the day enjoying a delicious lunch together in our Brill Rooms.


Activity Session Options:
10:00 AM
A) Harkening the Holidays: Dive into the Jewish High Holy Days of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur with Rabbi Glusman, as he shares a look at this month of celebrating and moral responsibility.
B) Fitness Class: Enjoy a Wellness Walk to Lake RB and then take part in a Tai Chi workout session overlooking the water, before walking back to the main building. 
C) Art Class: Channel your inner artist as you paint together by following a sample, led by instructor Miss Pink. This class will be in the MJCCA’s Kuniansky Family Center (KFC), transportation available. 


11:00 AM

Session 3 at 12:00 PM is an Author Talk with Jeanie Marx:
Join together in the Morris & Rae Frank Theatre for an interview with Jeanie Marx, author of Dayenu, A Sephardic Story led by Barbara Vahaba, MJCCA Director of Human Services. 
Set in Atlanta, Turkey, and Rhodes, Dayenu is a Depression-era love story that is part memoir and part fiction. The tale crosses oceans, centuries, and generations, describing ambition and the immigrant experience; heritage and traditions; and longing, love, and loss. 


Drawing tickets for free books in the theatre, immediately following our Keynote speaker.




1:00 PM: Box Lunch in Brill room
Lunch Options:
A) Turkey sandwich on wheat bread with lettuce and tomato, mustard & mayo packets 
B) Albacore tuna salad sandwich on whole wheat bread with lettuce and tomato 
C) Grilled veggie sandwich on sourdough bread with julienne zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant portobello mushrooms, red pepper, red onion, baby spinach, and roasted red pepper aioli 


Transportation Option:
A) Free Transportation from Decatur:
Pick Up 9:00 am at Mason Hill Recreation Center, 1340 McConnell Dr.; Decatur 30033 and drop off at MJCCA 5342 Tilly Mill Rd.; Atlanta. Then pick up at MJCCA at 1:45 pm and return to Mason Hill Recreation Center on McConnell Dr.


B) Free Transportation from Marietta:
Pick up 9:00 am at Kroger Parkaire, 4880 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30068, additional stop in Sandy Springs then drop off at MJCCA. Pick up at MJCCA at 1:45 pm and return to Kroger in Marietta, via Publix in Sandy Springs.


C) Free Transportation from Sandy Springs:
Pick up at 9:00 am at Publix, 6615 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 then drop off at MJCCA. Pick up at MJCCA at 1:45 pm and return to Publix in Sandy Springs. 


D) No Transportation.
