view options Join our fun and stress-free winter basketball league for athletes with special needs at the MJCCA! Athletes will learn the fundamentals of basketball in a safe and fun environment while participating in weekly practices and games. Coaches will work on teamwork and sportsmanship under the direction of the MJCCA staff and Inclusion Manager. This is an 8-week season only offered in the winter. Please read our eligibility statement to see if this program is right for your child. After the last session on February 25, we will hold a banquet to celebrate your child's hard work in the Youth SOAR Sensory Friendly Basketball League. More details will follow.Boys and Girls ages 6-9 and 10-12.

Eligibility Statement
The MJCCA promotes special needs basketball opportunities through the Youth SOAR Sensory Friendly League. The Youth SOAR Sensory Friendly Basketball League is specifically designed for certain disabilities such as ADHD, ADD, Apraxia, Dyslexia, Speech Delays, Auditory Processing Disorders, and other challenges that would not require the use of a full-time facilitator on the basketball court (e.g., Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Motor Challenges). The Youth SOAR Sensory Friendly Basketball League is a fully functioning basketball league, as such, safety on the court is of the utmost importance. Therefore, participation in The Youth SOAR Sensory Friendly Basketball League requires that a player be diagnosed with at least one of the above conditions, be able to play without the use of a full-time 1:1 facilitation, and not be a threat to the safety of themselves or others. This determination shall be made at the discretion of the Youth Inclusion Manager, Director of the Blonder Department for Special Needs, and Director of Sports when applicable.
