First Mother’s Day Catchball Tournament May 14
Atlanta Net (Atlanta’s Catchball League) is having its first Mother’s Day Catchball Tournament on Sunday, May 14, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, in the Marcus Gym at the MJCCA, Zaban Park (5342 Tilly Mill Rd., Dunwoody). The community is invited to cheer the players on! For more information contact Stacie Graff at 678.812.3972 or stacie.graff@atlantajcc.org.

“Catchball creates a sense of community, where friendships are made, and athletic prowess is not a requirement of its players,” says team manager Rachel Gurvitch. “Women are catching catchball fever here in Atlanta, and we anticipate a lot of growth in the sport as women become more aware of it,” she adds.

Catchball is similar to volleyball, but easier, because players catch the ball before passing or throwing, replacing volleyball’s bumping, setting and spiking moves, which are required to score across the net. It isthe most popular women’s sport in Israel and fast creating a buzz here in Atlanta and across the country as more women favor the game’s relatively easy style and social interaction.
