National "This Is Hunger" Traveling Exhibit Tour Rolls Into the MJCCA
Must-see, multimedia experience reveals faces and stories of Americas hidden hungry
“This is a powerful, interactive exhibit that takes individuals on a journey and challenges our preconceived notions of who in America struggles with hunger,” says Rabbi Brian Glusman, MJCCA Director of Membership, Outreach and Engagement.
The free tour is recommended for adults and children in grades 6+, and is open to the community on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19 from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The big rig will be on display at MJCCA, Zaban Park (5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody).
Advance reservations are highly recommended due to limited space. To schedule a free tour visit National This Is Hunger Tour. For more information, contact Rabbi Glusman at 678-812-4161, rabbi.glusman@atlantajcc.org.
All visitors are asked to bring (1) can of Kosher soup to be donated to the JF&CS Kosher Food Pantry. (Amy’s Vegetarian Soups, some Kroger vegetarian varieties, Streits/Manischewitz soup packets)
JF&CS feeds the community in many ways:
Ø Kosher Food Pantry: Since 1985, food and/or grocery gift cards are provided to families and individuals to meet basic food needs so they are better able to direct their limited resources towards other necessities such as housing, medicine and utilities.
Ø Career Services: Careers department provides job search, resume, LinkedIn, interviewing workshops and assistance to find employment.
Ø Aviv Older Adult Services: Older adults are often at risk for food insecurity. Clinicians work with Mazon to help enroll seniors in SNAP programs and a Health Power Initiative promotes improved health and nutrition, and a better quality of life for high-risk and vulnerable populations.
