The MJCCA Presents A Book Talk & Musical Performance With Legendary Jazz Great Ben Sidran

Finalist for the 2012 National Jewish Book Award

MJCCA Arts & Culture and A Page from the Book Festival of the MJCCA are pleased to welcome musician, journalist, producer, and author Ben Sidran, as he presents There Was a Fire: Jews, Music and the American Dream (a Book Talk & Musical Performance), at the MJCCA on April 10, at 7:30 pm. The program will be held Theater Productions at the MJCCA’s Morris & Rae Frank Theatre, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody. Ticket Prices: MJCCA Members: $12, Community: $18. Ben Sidran Comes to Atlanta

At the April 10 event, legendary jazz great Ben Sidran will bring his enormous talent to the MJCCA, performing live, and discussing his newest book: There Was a Fire: Jews, Music, and the American Dream, a comprehensive social history of Jewish contribution to American popular music. 

 

Sidran has an extensive musical resume, including having played keyboards with and produced such artists as Steve Miller, Mose Allison, Diana Rose, Boz Scaggs, and Van Morrison. 

 

Coming Soon – The Next Jazz at the JCC Concert

4th Ward Afro Klezmer Orchestra – (May 4, 2014 – 7:30 pm)

This nine-piece klezmer-funk-rock-jazz ensemble performs original compositions and arrangements, which combine West African rhythms with Eastern European klezmer melodies. They are hailed as one of the most unique and entertaining local live acts in Atlanta.
