COVID-19 Protocols

Our top priorities of safety and security have never been more important than they are right now. Every decision we have made has been through the lens of the health and safety of our members and staff. As such, please be aware that there will be some changes to the MJCCA experience.

  • The MJCCA has transitioned to a mask optional policy as of March 14, 2022.
  • Reservations are required through Mindbody for group exercise classes, tennis courts (outdoor pickleball is reserved through the tennis courts tab), lap swimming in our outdoor lower pool and indoor pool, and boating on the lake. Reservations for group exercise classes can be made 7 days in advance up until 30 minutes before the class. Reservations for tennis courts can be made 48 hours in advance. Reservations for lap swimming in our outdoor lower pool and indoor pool and boating on the lake can be made 72 hours in advance. Reservations are only visible for the next 72 hours (7 days for group exercise classes and 48 hours for tennis).

  • MJCCA members are allowed to bring guests. Preferred members receive free guest passes and Essential, Summer, Team, Swim Lesson, SilverSneakers®, and Renew Active™ members can purchase guest passes. Guests have access to the following: indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, fitness center, group exercise classes, gymnasiums, and lake. Monday-Thursday: 5:30 am-10:00 pm
Friday: 5:30 am-6:00 pm
Saturday: 8:00 am-6:00 pm
Sunday: 8:00 am-8:00 pm

SilverSneakers® and Renew Active™ members can visit the JCC from 10:00 am-4:00 pm to utilize the fitness center, gyms, group exercise classes, and tennis courts. Reservations required as indicated below.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

  • The Zaban-Blank building will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day using products and protocols that meet CDC and EPA guidelines.
  • Larger areas will be fogged with a GenEon Disinfectant blower.
  • Floors will be cleaned with disinfectant daily.
  • Frequent contact surfaces will be sanitized multiple times per day.
  • A special UV light treatment shown to kill viruses and other common pathogens has been added to the HVAC system in the Brill Fitness Center and The Weinstein School as an added element of protection.
  • Water fountains will be turned off, but the water bottle refill will be working.
  • Health and hygiene reminders have been prominently placed including reminders about hand washing, social distancing, and other guidelines.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been added around the MJCCA, including at the Selig Family Tennis Center.

New Entry Protocols

  • Membership cards or key fobs will be scanned at the front desk.
  • Members can now use the gate to enter or leave the tennis courts. This gate is for Members only. All visitors must enter through the main entrance. Members, please swipe your card or key fob to open gate.

Fitness

Brill Fitness Center

  • Members will be required to wipe off all equipment they touch with provided wipes.
  • Please bring your own towels: no towel service will be provided at this time.

Group Exercise Classes

  • Classes are held in our three specialized fitness studios and gymnasiums.
  • Reservations must be made through Mindbody for group exercise classes as there is a maximum of number of participants per class. Reservations can be made 7 days in advance up until 30 minutes before the class. Please note: Reservations are only visible for only the next 7 days.

  • Members will be required to wipe off all equipment they touch with provided wipes.
  • You must bring your own yoga mat and any other ancillary equipment.

Indoor Pool

  • Air circulation contains 30% fresh air from outside, and all air is constantly circulated through the HVAC filter system
  • UV and chlorine disinfecting of the pool water
  • Nightly cleaning and fogging of pool area
  • Hourly cleaning and disinfecting in the locker rooms
  • Reservations are required via Mindbody and can be made for lap swimming or family free swim by members of the same household (a max of 4 people can swim in a lane if from the same household) up to 72 hours in advance. Please do not reserve more than one lane per day.
  • Each indoor pool reservation is 1 hour. Two reservations (two people) will be allowed per lane. If you do not wish to share a lane or are swimming with another member of your household, please book both sides A and B of your desired lane.
  • Please arrive at least ten minutes before your reservation start time and check in at the front desk.
  • If a member does not show up for their swim reservation OR if they cancel less than 4 hours from the reservation start time, a $20 fee will be assessed. Our goal is to make the pools as available as possible for all our members to use and enjoy!
  • The locker rooms, sauna, steam room, and hot tub are open.
  • Water aerobics are offered by reservation only through Mindbody.

Sports

Pickleball

Join us on Tuesday evenings for open play with instruction! Registration is required. Learn more here!

Pickleball for Beginners

Each Monday from 10:00-11:30 am, pickleball layleaders will host a beginners session for an hour on the outdoor tennis courts. At this weekly workshop, MJCCA members, SilverSneakers and/or Renew Active members can learn the rules of the game, paddle selection, positioning and practice and skill work. This is great for both beginners and those who need a refresher course of the game. No sign up is necessary, though for more information please email Cliff Cohen at cliffcoh@gmail.com.

Indoor Pickleball

  • Pickleball on all three courts in the Mendel Gymnasium is available Mondays from 11:30 am-1:30 pm, Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:00-4:00 pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-4:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 11:30 am-2:00 pm (there will be no pickleball on Sundays).
  • Bring your own balls and paddles.
  • Members will set up and break down nets and members will be responsible moving the nets on and off the courts.

Outdoor Pickleball

  • Outdoor Pickleball is available on Tennis Courts 5 & 6 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00-3:00 pm and on Thursdays from 2:00-4:00 pm.
  • One member is required to make a court reservation for 30-120 minutes through Mindbody on the Tennis Courts tab.
  • Reservations can be made 48 hours in advance.
  • Bring your own balls and paddles.
  • Please ask Tennis Director, Adam Silverstein, for assistance with adjusting the net.

Tennis

  • Members can now use the gate to enter or leave the tennis courts. This gate is for Members only. All visitors must enter through the main entrance. Members, please swipe your card or key fob to open gate. 
  • Members must bring their own equipment (tennis balls, water bottle, towels, racquet, etc).
  • Water coolers will not be filled with water at this time.
  • Doors closest to the courts can be used to access the restrooms or refill water bottles during play.
  • Tennis court use is by reservation only, up to 48 hours in advance, no walk ups allowed. Reservations will be made through Mindbody.
  • We’re offering tennis lessons for all ages. Learn more!

Dance

  • No parents are allowed in the building.
  • Dancers will enter the building through the dance hallway and exit through the garden doors.
  • All dance bags and equipment will be kept in cubbies inside the dance studio, not in our hallway.
  • Ballet barres will be wiped and sanitized before each class.
  • The dance hallway will be cleaned between classes.
  • Bathroom doors, counters, sinks…etc will be cleaned between classes, and checked via an accountability log.
  • Studios will be deep cleaned each night.
  • Mrs. Erin’s office will be locked at all times.

Outdoor Recreation

Outdoor Pools

  • The Sherwin Glass Aquatic Center and Barbara and Ed Mendel Splash Park open Saturday, May 21 and close after Monday, September 5. Please review our Pool Hours & Policies for more details.
  • If you have had any of these symptoms in the past 24 hours – fever of 100.4 or higher, cough, chills, headache, shortness of breath, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, muscle pain – we ask that you please stay home for the health and safety of our entire MJCCA family.
  • Reservations are required via Mindbody for lap swimming in the outdoor lower pool and can made up to 72 hours in advance. Please note: Reservations are only visible for the next 72 hours. Members may reserve more than one time slot per day.
  • If a member does not show up or if they cancel less than 4 hours from the reservation start time, a $20 fee will be assessed. Weather will be taken into account for missed outdoor lower pool reservations.

Paradies Playground

The Paradies Playground is open on weekends.

Lake RB

  • There will be a lifeguard at the lake Saturday, June 4 though Sunday, July 31 on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am-5:00 pm to allow members the use of boats, kayaks, canoes and to fish.
  • Reservations are required for boating via Mindbody and can be made up to 72 hours in advance. Reservations are not required for fishing.
  • Personal flotation devices must be worn at all times while using a watercraft. You must provide your own fishing equipment.
  • Please check in at the outdoor pool front desk.

How to set up the Mindbody app

  1. Download the free Mindbody app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Launch the Mindbody app and tap Continue with Email.
  3. Enter your email address (use the email address with which you receive emails from the MJCCA), then tap Next. (Please note: if you already have a username and password, it will prompt for both your email address and password.)
  4. Create and enter a password, then tap Next.
  5. Enter your first name, last name, country, and email preference, then tap Let’s Go.
  6. You’re Almost Done! Check your email to confirm your account.
  7. Click on the confirmation link within the email and you’re ready to use the app.

How to make a reservation using the Mindbody app

  1. Login to the app.
  2. In the search box at the top of the screen type in Marcus and choose My Location. Please note: you will need to make sure the location settings are turned on for the app to use your location.
  3. Tap on Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta and then tap the heart in the top right corner so that you can more easily access reservations in the future.
  4. Then tap the View Schedule button. You’ll see two tabs: Classes and Appointments.
  5. Tap the classes tab to reserve a spot for group exercise classes.
    • To reserve a class, select the date, and you will see class options.
    • Tap the Book button to the right of the class you are reserving. Then tap Next, then Submit, and then Book.
    • Please note: the app will not allow you to make a reservation if the class is already full.
  6. Tap the appointments tab to reserve a lane in the outdoor lower pool or indoor pool, for boating on the lake, or for a tennis court:
    • Tap the service you are interested, for example Tennis Courts, and you will see the reservation options.
    • Please disregard the Pick a Staff verbiage and Any Staff option.
    • Select one of the options, for example, Court 1.

How to set up the Mindbody desktop version

  1. Visit atlantajcc.org/mindbodydesktop.
  2. In the Sign In section click the Need new password? link.
  3. Enter your email address (use the email address with which you receive emails from the MJCCA) and click Next.
  4. Go to your email inbox and open the password reset email.
  5. Follow the prompts to reset your password.
  6. Sign in at atlantajcc.org/mindbodydesktop with your email address and new password.

How to make a reservation using the Mindbody desktop version

  1. Log in.
  2. Select the tab with the service you would like to reserve.
    • To reserve a lane in the outdoor lower pool or indoor pool, for boating on the lake, or for a tennis court:
      • Select on the calendar the date you would like to reserve.
      • Select the time of day you would like to reserve. It will display in blue if it is available.
      • Click Book Appointment, then click Check Out, then click Place Order.
    • To reserve a spot for group exercise classes:
      • Select the Group Classes tab.
      • Find your class at your desired day and time.
      • Click Sign Up Now by your desired class.
      • Click Make a Single Reservation.
