Stacey Harris, a Nationally-Rated Gymnastics Judge, Accepts Position of MJCCAs New Gymnastics Director

The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) recently announced that Stacey Harris has accepted the position of Gymnastics Director, having been involved in gymnastics for decades as a competitor, coach, judge and administrator.  For information, contact Lora Sommer at 678.812.4078. 

 

“We are pleased to introduce Stacey as the director of our award-winning Perimeter Gymnastics Program,” said CEO of the MJCCA Gail Luxenberg. “As a nationally-rated gymnastics judge, Stacey brings years of training and judging all levels of gymnastics to our program. We are thrilled to welcome her to our MJCCA family.” 

 

Stacey Harris Backgrounder

Originally from Moscow, Idaho, Stacey has lived in Dunwoody for almost 10 years (the longest she has ever lived in the same place, as her father was in the Air Force and they moved around a lot while she was growing up). She received a degree in International Politics and Economics with minors in Russian and Spanish from Middlebury College. She lived in Russia from 1992-1994 while working for the 1994 Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg.

 

Stacey has judged all levels of gymnastics – from Level 1’s to high level college meets.  Stacey is an active gymnastics judgee, the founder and Co-President of the Atlanta Centennial Classic (a gymnastics invitational held annually for 7 years now, with this year’s event hosting 800 gymnasts from 8 states), and coached at the Atlanta Gymnastics Center.  Stacey worked for the Goodwill Games from 1994-2001, and also for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as the Assistant Housing Manager in the Olympic Village.

 

Stacey lives with her husband and two children in Dunwoody and is currently the President of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association.  

 

The MJCCA’s Perimeter Gymnastics Program

Sports and Sports Events

The MJCCA Gymnastics Program in Dunwoody provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about and participate in the popular and growing sport of gymnastics. All of their classes are led by highly trained professional coaches in their state-of-the art gymnastics facility. With 7,000 square feet of dedicated space and top-of-the-line Olympic gymnastics equipment, participants have the opportunity to learn and master the vault, balance beam, bars, and tumbling in a caring, supportive environment where they  strive for all students to enjoy the sport while safely developing their skills. The MJCCA Perimeter Gymnastics program is open to all. 

 

The MJCCA’s Gymnastics Program Includes: Youth (Elementary – High School) and Early Childhood Recreational Classes, Pre-Team, Competitive Team Gymnastics (AAU and USAG), Optional Program, Tumbling and Cheerleading, Adult Gymnastics, Camps, Birthday Parties, and Private Lessons.
