A Century of Wisdom is the remarkable and inspiring story of one woman’s lifelong determination—in the face of some of the worst evils known to man—to find goodness in life. It is a testament to the bonds of friendship, the power of music, and the importance of leading a life of material simplicity, intellectual curiosity, and never-ending optimism.

Following her book talk, Ms. Stoessinger will be the keynote speaker at the MJCCA’s Yom Hashoah Commemoration at the Besser Holocaust Memorial Garden which begins at 4:00 pm.

Prices: Individual ticket: $18.00/Non-Member $25.00 • Mother/Daughter: $30.00/Non-Member $40.00

Just in time for Mother’s Day! When actress and former Miss America Vanessa Williams (“Ugly Betty,” “Desperate Housewives”) was growing up, her mother, Helen, gave her a list of things that she should never— ever—do. Near the top of that list was “never ever pose nude for anyone.” So when Vanessa became the first African-American woman to win the title of Miss America in September 1983, only to be forced to resign 10 months later due to a nude photo scandal, the lives of both Vanessa and Helen took an unexpected turn. But Vanessa survived this setback, and many others to come, to enjoy a thirty-plus-year career as an award-winning singer and actress. You’re invited to join us when Vanessa, with the help of her mother, tells her fascinating story.

(COMPLIMENTARY PHOTO WITH TICKET! With a ticket purchase for the Vanessa Williams event, guests will receive a complimentary “green screen” photo featuring one of our very own Vanessa-inspired custom backgrounds. Photos will be taken from 6:00 – 7:15 pm. Photography by Peachtree Pictures. Limit one per guest please.)
