Book It! The MJCCA Hosts the 17th Annual Book Festival
(ATLANTA) The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is pleased to announce the return of one of the South's premiere literary events, the 17th annual Book Festival of the MJCCA. This year, the MJCCA is also proud to partner with new presenting sponsor, Creative Loafing. This year's lineup features 33 award-winning, bestselling authors, rising literary voices, humorists, journalists, historians, novelists, medical experts, and politicians – just to name a few. Festival goers will enjoy engaging speaker programs, author meet-and-greets, book signings, panel discussions, the 6th Annual Get Caught Reading Storytelling Festival, the annual Community Read, and more.
A sample of authors making an appearance at this year's Book Festival includes:
Opening Night Keynote Speaker: Legendary Film Star Tony Curtis (November 8); Bestselling Thriller Author Robert Tanenbaum (November 10); Broadway's Biggest “Birdie” Charles Strouse (November 13); Compelling NBC Middle East Bureau Chief Martin Fletcher (November 15); Thought-Provoking CNN Sr. Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin (November 18); Bestselling Fiction Author Amy Bloom (November 18); Jeffrey Zaslow, co-author, The Last Lecture (November 22).
Many programs are free and open to the community. Babysitting is available for select events with a three-day advance reservation.
In addition, award-winning celebrity photographer, Annie Leibovitz, will make a scheduled appearance at the MJCCA on December 10 to discuss and sign her memoir, Annie Leibovitz at Work. Leibovitz's program is part of “A Page from the Book Festival of the MJCCA,” a series of year-round author events.
