Joel Arogeti Installed as New Chair, MJCCA's Board of Directors at the MJCCA's 70th Annual Meeting; Lay Leadership and Staff Awards Presented at the Agency's Meeting
The community recently came together at the MJCCA’s 70th Annual Meeting, to honor lay leadership and staff achievements at a meeting chaired by Sammy Grant. That evening, Joel Arogeti, President and CEO of Kitchens Kelley Gaynes, PC, was installed as the new Chair, MJCCA’s Board of Directors. That evening, prestigious Lay Leadership and Staff Awards were presented, including:
Volunteer of the Year Award
Liz Mennen received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Liz has had an immense impact on young adult programs and has been the co-chair of the committee for the past two years. She gives a substantial amount of her time helping to grow the leagues, make the social events even better, and come up with great new program ideas.
Phillip Bush Award for Leadership
Rabbi Brian Glusman received the Phillip Bush Award for Leadership. This is an award for an MJCCA staff member who: aspires to lead and influences, motivates, and enables others to contribute towards the effectiveness and success of the Agency. Rabbi Glusman greatly impacts programs and his ability to infuse Judaism in a relatable and relevant way makes him an important to our JCC.
Team Player Award
Sheila Gonzalez, MJCCA’s IT Operations Coordinator, received the Team Player Award. This is an award for an MJCCA staff member who: boosts employee morale, aligns goals, streamlines processes and procedures, promotes interdepartmental cooperation, and is an effective communicator. Sheila can always be seen around the JCC with a smile and always has a pleasant and friendly demeanor. She is in a job that is very demanding and at some time overwhelming, but she never loses her cool and always goes the extra mile to help anyone who needs it.
Customer Service Award
Carlos Auger received the Customer Service Award. This is an award for an MJCCA staff member who: works expertly with both internal staff and members; and approaches work with a positive attitude, even under adverse situations. Carlos is the first face that most of our regular fitness and swim members see on a daily basis. He is warm, welcoming and treats everyone with respect and kindness.
Best New Program Award
Transitions received the Best New Program Award. This for a new MJCCA program that demonstrates creativity and innovation in the dimension of service to the community and advances the Agency’s mission. Led by Transitions Director Elizabeth Waddey, this is a program that has contributed significantly towards further embracing the MJCCA’s programs for people with special needs. It is one that fosters independence and ensures a positive sense of self confidence.
Raye Lynn Banks Teacher of the Year Award (MJCCA’s Dunwoody preschool the Weinstein School).
Lori Karp, preschool teacher at MJCCA’s Weinstein School, received the Raye Lynn Banks Teacher of the Year Award (at The Weinstein School). Lori’s creativity, kindness and warmth shines through each and every day. She is adored by the teachers, administration, and all of the families.
Raye Lynn Banks Teacher of the Year Award (MJCCA’s East Cobb preschool the Sunshine School).
Helen Sarembock, a preschool teacher at MJCCA’s Sunshine School, received the Raye Lynn Banks Teacher of the Year Award (at The Sunshine School). Helen has worked at the Sunshine School for 12 years. Her sweet, loving nature and extensive knowledge of early childhood make loved and respected by all.
