For parents living Intown who are looking for an exciting summer day camp for their rising K-9th graders, close to home, the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is excited to bring day camp magic to you! The MJCCA Day Camps Intown offer a wide variety of excellent Specialty and Performing Arts Camps beginning Monday, June 5 through Friday, July 28, 2017. Registration is currently open. For the first time, MJCCA’s wide variety of Specialty Camps will be offered Intown, on the Emory University Campus at Emory Hillel (735 Gatewood Road NE, Atlanta). The Performing Arts Camps will be conveniently located at the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Center for Performing Arts (1700 N Decatur Road, Atlanta).

 

For added convenience, free bus transportation will be available in both Decatur (Decatur High School, 310 N. McDonough St.), and in Candler Park (St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1410 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE). Campers who attend five or more weeks of camp (per camper) are eligible to receive a $25/week discount.

Specialty Camps include: Creative Chefs; LEGOLAND®; Princess Camp; SuperHero Camp; Welcome to Hogwarts; Digital Experience; Pirate and Princess Camps; Project Invent; Retro Art; Science Discovery; Eco Kids; Krav Kids; Mini Mensches, and Make Your Mark.

 

  • MJCCA PERFORMING ARTS CAMPS INTOWN

Performing Arts Camps including the new Intro to Improv and Pop Star Dance Camps; Returning favorites include: Music Video Camp, and the Lynne & Howard Halpern Drama Camps. Drama campers will prepare and rehearse for two weeks, and then perform in theatre productions of Annie and/or The Lion King.

 

The MJCCA offers more than 100 smile-inducing summer day camp options at four locations in metro Atlanta. Each week, counselors will incorporate five character-building values into the daily activities of each camp program including community, respect, friendship, acceptance, and learning.

 

For the first time, two thrilling overnight camps will be offered:

 

Youth Sports Academy, a weeklong, overnight sports camp that incorporates athletic development and character-building. Powered by the Atlanta Hawks, campers will sharpen their athletic skills under the guidance and training from professional coaches, at Kennesaw State University’s Marietta campus, and compete in its state-of-the-art sports complex under the supervision of the Sherry & Harry Maziar Sports Camps staff. Offered Sunday, June 18 – Friday, June 23 for boy and girls in rising 4th – 7th grades.

 

Huntsville Space Camp, an overnight camp that will send rising 4th – 8th grade boys and girls over the moon and back! The weeklong camp begins Monday, July 10 and runs through Friday, July 14 starting with an exploration of the space realm at the MJCCA’s Zaban Park campus, and then a two-night trip to the Huntsville Space Camp. Outer space-loving campers will get to experience a one-of-a-kind space mission, and astronaut training on authentic simulators at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
