The MJCCA Welcomes The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Brooklyn As They Present the Hilarious Musical, Missionary in Manhattan
ONE SHOW ONLY - June 9, 2013
On Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 3:00 pm, Arts & Culture at the MJCCA welcomes The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Brooklyn (www.greatuke.com), as they present the southeastern premiere of Missionary in Manhattan, a hilarious new musical about three polygamist pop stars on the hunt for their husband in HOTlanta. The trio of young ladies harmonize and play delightful songs about their ‘kin,' as well as the fundamentals of big hair, blind faith, and just how plural a marriage can get. The show will be held at the MJCCA's Morris & Rae Frank Theatre, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody. For information, visit www.atlantajcc.org/boxoffice, or call 678.812.4002.
This show is intended for mature audiences only.
Missionary in Manhattan
When husband Charles Gregory Howard disappears under suspicious circumstances -- having last been seen at Out Write Atlanta with his vocal coach, Gerard -- it's up to Sister Gretchen, Sister Fanny, and Sister Bunny Catherine to track down their band mate and the father of their seven children. This 45-minute show lampoons and investigates the institution of marriage as the harmonious sister wives must ultimately accept their husband for who he truly is.
The cast of Missionary in Manhattan includes: Kaleigh Malloy, Caitlin Davis, Elizabeth May, and Dave May.
The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Brooklyn (UOGB)
The UOGB provides a theatrical home for southerners in the north and an invitation to those untouched by southern charm. The founding members of the UOGB challenge a generation criticized for its apathy, detachment, and reliance on technology by demanding audience engagement through outrageous comedy, musical celebrations, and honest storytelling.
