Join us for a day in Dahlonega, Georgia, with lunch at Public House followed by a tour of the Consolidated Gold Mine.
Long before California’s famous gold rush, Dahlonega was at the center of America’s first major gold discovery. In 1828, gold was discovered in the area, drawing thousands of prospectors hoping to strike it rich. The discovery helped transform Dahlonega into a thriving gold-mining town.
Our visit includes a 40-minute tour more than 20 stories underground, gold panning instruction from award-winning panners, and a free gold sample to try your luck at finding gold of your own!
Schedule
9:30am: Depart from Publix Super Market at Abernathy Square Shopping Center - 6615 Roswell Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
11:00am: Arrive at Public House in Dahlonega for lunch.
11:00am–12:30pm: Lunch at Public House.
12:30pm–1:00pm Travel to Consolidated Gold Mine -185 Consolidated Gold Mine Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
1:00pm–2:30pm: Gold mine tour and prepare to board the bus
2:30pm: Depart for Publix at Abernathy Square.
Approximately 4:00 pm: Arrive back at Publix, depending on traffic.
