EngAge Day at the MJCCA – Spring ’25

view options Feed your mind, body, and soul with a variety of engaging activities and connect with other older adults! Come connect with others and have fun! Choose three activities of your choice, then enjoy a delicious lunch together. Join us at Zaban Park for a day full of activities! We’re excited to offer expanded choices.


How to Complete Your Registration: After submitting your registration payment, use the link provided in your confirmation email to access the Activity Choice Form.
Select one activity for each time slot—10:00 am, 11:00 am, and 12:00 pm—and indicate your lunch choice. Please note: All registrations and activity selections close at 5:00 pm on April 28. Register early to secure your spot or make a limited selection at the door (space permitting).

• Shabbat Refresh 101 with Rabbi Beiner Explore the beauty and meaning of Shabbat in this warm and thoughtful seminar. What is Shabbat? How do we honor and celebrate it? Discover how traditions have evolved and share your personal experiences in this reflective session.

• Movement & Mindfulness: Israeli Dancing Let the rhythm move you! Join Melissa for a lively session of traditional Israeli folk dancing. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned dancer, you’ll connect with the spirit of Shabbat through joyful movement.

• Creative Expression: Havdalah Candles Hand-roll your own beeswax Havdalah candle in this peaceful, hands-on workshop. Learn about the candle’s role in marking the end of Shabbat and take home a beautiful ritual item you’ve created.

• Cooking: Cheese Bourekas Roll up your sleeves and dive into a family recipe for delicious, flaky cheese bourekas with Chef Lisa Long. Prepare your own to take home and bake fresh for Shabbat.


11:00 am Options

• Shabbat Refresh 101 with Kelly Cohen Continue exploring the traditions, history, and personal meaning of Shabbat in this engaging discussion-based seminar.

• Movement & Mindfulness: Israeli Dancing Another chance to dance with Melissa! Celebrate Shabbat through movement, music, and cultural expression.

• Creative Expression: Havdalah Spice Boxes Craft your own spice box using mixed-media tins and aromatic spices. These beautiful creations symbolize the sweetness of Shabbat as it transitions into the week.

• Cooking: Cheese Bourekas Roll up your sleeves and dive into a family recipe for delicious, flaky cheese bourekas with Chef Lisa Long. Prepare your own to take home and bake fresh for Shabbat.

12:00 pm Options

• Shabbat Refresh 101 with Kelly Cohen Join us for the final session in our series exploring the joy, depth, and traditions of Shabbat.

• Movement & Mindfulness: Chair Yoga Think yoga isn’t for you? Think again! This gentle class uses a chair for support and focuses on balance, strength, and flexibility—finishing with a calming meditation.

• Creative Expression: Release Stress Through Sound Let go and unwind with Sound Healing Practitioner & Embodiment Coach Chelsea Szegidewicz. Experience crystal singing bowls and gentle movement designed to calm the mind and reconnect with your body.

• Cooking: Cheese Bourekas Roll up your sleeves and dive into a family recipe for delicious, flaky cheese bourekas with Barbara Vahaba. Prepare your own to take home and bake fresh for Shabbat.


1:15 pm – Lunch

Enjoy a delicious kosher buffet lunch, lovingly prepared by Added Touch. Each meal comes with fresh seasonal fruit salad and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. • Turkey Sandwich – Sliced turkey breast with lettuce and tomato on challah bread (mustard & mayo served on the side)

• Albacore Tuna Wrap – Classic tuna salad with lettuce and tomato, wrapped in a flour tortilla, cut on the diagonal

• Grilled Vegetable Wrap – Zucchini, squash, eggplant, mushrooms, red pepper, red onion, and baby spinach with pareve sun-dried tomato cream cheese in a spinach tortilla


1:30 pm Music for All

Grab your lunch and head to our closing celebration! Enjoy a spirited, interactive concert with the incredible Hannah Zale. Blending joyful Jewish melodies, Broadway favorites, and jazz standards, Hannah’s music will lift your spirits and bring everyone together in song and celebration.


Stay & Enjoy! After the concert, you’re welcome to stay and enjoy our facilities until 4:00 pm.
