Jewish Reactions to Antisemitism and the Holocaust
view options In this course, we will examine antisemitism throughout the ages, but our focus will be on how Jews responded. The same will be true with the study of the Holocaust. For example, we will deal extensively with the role of women in the Warsaw ghetto and in the resistance; art during and after (commemorative) the Holocaust; and spiritual, cultural, moral as well as physical resistance. We will also examine Jewish theological responses to the Holocaust. The last session will deal with current antisemitism (using ADL resources) and possible responses. This is not your “average run of the mill “antisemitism or Holocaust” course. The relevance of studying Jewish responses at this time of dramatically increasing antisemitism throughout the world cannot be understated. Join us!Instructor: Rabbi Fred Guttman
