Resilience, Response, and Resistance Throughout Jewish History
Jews have confronted persecution, destruction, displacement, and profound change across more than 2,500 years of history. From the destruction of the Temples and medieval antisemitism to the pogroms, Zionism, the Holocaust, and October 7, we will examine the many forms Jewish resistance has taken—armed struggle, religious and cultural creativity, migration, political action, art, music, and the determination to rebuild. Throughout the course, we will ask what Jewish history can teach us about resilience and resistance as the Jewish people and Israel confront the challenges of our own time.
