Summers at the Marcus JCC are centered around the pools: the sounds of delighted children; the smell of sunscreen; the sensation of warmth as families converge for our Dive Into Shabbat pool programs and say the traditional prayers over their children. Day Campers, swim team athletes, lap swimmers, and families all relish seeing old friends and meeting new ones at our pools from May to September. The outdoor aquatic center continues to be a place where meaningful Jewish memories and moments are created.
However, the pool is 40+ years old and traditional in design. It is difficult for children or those who are not strong swimmers to navigate. Renovating the Marcus JCC’s outdoor aquatic areas is imperative. The Marcus JCC already employs aquatic and programming staff to make young family programs energetic, entertaining, and (most of all) safe, but must provide pools and amenities that are competitive with those available at other local swim clubs.
Plans for the renovated aquatic center include: a zero-entry pool, shallow areas with multiple options for kids of all ages, an in-pool sundeck, water slide, shaded pool and deck areas, locker room renovations, snack bar, and picnic areas.
